INTRODUCTION: The Thakar Adivasi Kala Angan is the first Museum of Thakar traditional folk arts, crafts and forms of dance drama in India, which is situated in ancestral village of Pinguli in South Maharashtra. Shri.Parshuram V.Gangavane director, Awarded the “Maharashtra State Govt. Award-2009” For Preserving the traditional Thakar folk art locally and perform it nationally from last 35 years. The trust undertakes ongoing activities in “Guru Shishya Parampara”, conservation of original art materials and promotion of this beautiful range of folk art. The Thakar Adivasi caste of Pinguli is traditionally occupied with eleven different performance arts. Amongst these are the KalsutriBahulya, a string marionette show depicting the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata; the Dayati, shadow puppet theatre; the Chitrakathi, storytelling with the help of paintings; and the Pangulbael, a ritual form of theatre around the figure of the sacred bull of Shiva.
